A royal oval nut with a mellow, sweet flavour, used a lot in Mogul style of cooking in northern India. Almonds combine successfully with Indian savory dishes, Indian sweets, ice creams and confectioneries. Almond paste is used to thicken gravies. An excellent garnish ingredient.
Origin – West or central Asia. Cultivated in the Mediterranean for more than two thousand years.
Curative properties – To strengthen the power of a child’s mental state, soak five almonds in water overnight, peel and chew every day.
It is good for the heart and acts as a cleansing agent for blood.
